Henri's tips on pruning the apple tree.

• The shoots growing straight up are called water lotus. These shoots are best cut off to create a nice, airy tree.
• Don't prune away all the flowering wood; instead, create flowering wood.
• The flowering wood is often at the ends of twigs and on short shoots.
• Pruning properly will give you more air and structure in the tree.
• It also allows for more flowering wood and a chance for larger apples soon! Note that this also depends on the variety.
