Do you know this bird-friendly plant (Deer hay)?

Henri's tips on pruning deer hay

  • The old, spent flowers of the Deer Hay are very decorative in winter. The plant is well hardy.
  • Deer hay can be pruned short in early spring so that it will have beautiful flowers later in the summer.
  • This strong plant blooms on the annual wood.
  • Want to plant new Deer Hay in your garden? Then put it facing south; it is happy with a sunny location.

Tip
Deer hay blooms from July through September. So you can enjoy it all summer long. Check out our PlantEncyclopedia and find out how many varieties of Deer Hay there are!
