Henri's tips on taking care of bald spots in your lavender
- Acidification of the soil can cause moss to form between plants. Little nutrition and dense soil cause bare spots to form in and between the lavender.
- Prune back the lavender in early spring.
- By pruning the lavender back rigorously, you will remove all the dead material from the plant.
- Clean the soil around the lavender plants: remove leaves and weeds.
- Use a trident to loosen the soil.
- Sprinkle lime to improve soil acidity. By spreading lime, fertilizers are better absorbed.
- Have large bare spots appeared between lavender bushes? Plant new lavender plants between them.
- Apply a layer of compost, or organic material, between the shrubs. This holds moisture well and is absorbed directly by the soil.
