Most Magnolias bloom for a relatively short time: a week and a half and it's already over. They often bloom so early that a cold night can have disastrous consequences for the frilly flowers. As soon as these encounter just a little forst, the once spotless petals are scarred by brown edges. Another year of patience is required for the chance of pointy flowers. Nevertheless, these shrubs and small trees enjoy great popularity: the beauty is so great that people take these disadvantages for granted.
Where does the magnolia come from, the different varieties and many more facts about the Magnolia you can read in the Magazine the Garden in four Seasons.

Magazine the Garden in Four Seasons
Looking intensively at gardens also sharpens one's outlook. The more you read about well-designed gardens and the closer you look at the illustrations accompanying such articles, the more easily you recognize the qualities in gardens you visit, and in your own. Last winter, like us, you hopefully enjoyed the silhouettes of old (fruit) trees again, and frosted, well-designed gardens with strong structure. We do not long for that: now we love to see the buds bursting open, the bulbous flowers opening one by one, the haze of tender green over the branches. We listen to the birds making themselves heard en masse at dawn. In winter it was easy to focus the gaze, now there is more to see every day. Soak up the colors and shapes of all the beauty presented to us by growers, markets and fellow gardeners to enjoy even more intensely.
