Seven gardening tips to get your garden into the Easter spirit

Decorate your twisty hazel (garden tip #1)

Easter stands for new life. And the Easter branch decorated with eggs is the symbol that suits this celebration. A branch of the winding hazel is simply made to be used as an Easter branch. You can also decorate a curly willow branch beautifully. Do you happen to have a shrub in the garden with beautiful curly branches? Decorate it on the spot with eggs, feathers and bows. Of course, in pastel shades that suit this party: yellow, light green, white, beige and pink. Want to give a more modern touch to your Easter branch? Then choose decorations in shades of gold, or just black and white.

On the brunch table (garden tip #2)

Don't have a willow, twisting hazel or other suitable shrub in your garden to decorate? Buy these branches (or even better: ask an acquaintance who does have this shrub) and place the branches in a sturdy vase. A real eye-catcher on the brunch table or to put in the porch! If you want something different from the classic decoration, leave out the eggs and feathers. Instead, wrap colored wool, threads or string around the branches.

Wreath at the door (garden tip #3)

You can very easily decorate your front door, back door or barn door in Easter atmosphere. Hang a nice wreath and decorate it with some eggs or feathers. A green wreath with a yellow ribbon also gives a spring feeling. Not a fan of a wreath, still an Easter touch at the front door? Put an evergreen plant in a pot by the door and hang eggs and bows on the branches.

Basket of extras (garden tip #4)

A wicker basket full of spring flowers such as Crocuses, Pansies, Grape Hyacinths and Blue Grapes will give you pleasure for a long time. An extra Easter touch is achieved by tying a pretty ribbon around the basket in light yellow, green or pink.

Less is more (gardening tip #5)

Don't like all those sweet colors but still want to create a subtle touch of Easter on the garden table? Less is more! Fill a large, earthenware bowl with moss and place a few small eggs in shades of nature. Top it off with some twigs or feathers, if necessary.

Modest Easter Fire (garden tip #6)

A real tradition are Easter fires; they symbolize the light of Easter. Create your own modest Easter fire in the garden by burning wood in a fire bowl. If the weather is bad, set up a tableau of candles in pastel shades and enjoy the atmosphere! Tip: Carefully break eggs and use the egg shell halves as holders for tea lights.

Clean, cleaner, cleanest (garden tip #7)

Beautiful, homemade decorations, such as an Easter tree or basket of spring flowers, really come into their own in fresh, clean surroundings. So the patio and porch need to be spic and span! A terrace that you sweep regularly has less chance of green deposits because less moisture remains on it. Sweep the tiles or decking and give the garden furniture a major refresh. Choose bright cushions and a nice tablecloth to complete the ambience to perfection.
