Here's how to prune back the Plum Hydrangea (Hydrangea Paniculata)

Henri's tips on pruning a Plum Hydrangea (Hydrangea Paniculata)

  • The Plume Hydrangea can easily be pruned back to the old wood.
  • It is important to rejuvenate occasionally. Therefore, prune back a few branches a little deeper each year.
  • This way, the younger wood will have a little more chance to grow out.
  • By thinning the shrub substantially in early spring, it will continue to develop again from the so-called "dormant eyes.
  • As a result, the plant consists of less wood, so all the energy goes to the flowers. The result is larger panicles in summer!
