Then it's a good idea to install a porch with an outdoor fireplace. Do you want the kids to be able to play in the garden? Then make room for playground equipment et cetera. In the end, it is important to make it a garden where everyone feels at home.

Step 4: Sketch your garden design
Before starting your garden design, it is important to have some maxims in place. The most important measurements in a row:
- Terrace minimum 360 x 360cm.
- Paths at least 100cm wide.
- Step tiles a maximum of 40cm apart.
- Pergola or arch at least 200cm high.
If you have different types of garden fences in the garden, you must also record the measurements of these so that they can later be included exactly in the garden design.

Grab your mood board and get your inspiration from here. This will prevent you from drawing at random. To get you started, we've created a structure for you:
- Start by drawing your garden plot.
- Sketch the house in your garden plot. This will be the reference point.
- Continue drawing in the permanent details such as the gate, pool, trees and gazebo.
- Define the paths in your garden plot.

Then it might be an idea to hide this facade from view with greenery. Also think about privacy. Does the side of the garden border the sidewalk? Then choose a dense hedge or fence so they don't have a view of the garden.
Step 8: Eating out in your own garden
In spring and toward summer, the outdoors becomes more important. How nice is it to be able to cook in your own garden? If you are a hobby chef then it is fun to set up a corner of the garden as an outdoor kitchen. By making a pergola, you eat sheltered from the bright sun and create an intimate corner with, for example, mood lighting.
Step 9: Permits
